Student Stipend

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL/DVC) annual scholarship essay is designed to foster and support future academic librarians. A $500 scholarship award is presented each year directly to a student to help offset the cost of educational expenses. Library school students living or working in the chapter’s service area (eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware) and who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited program, including distance education programs, are invited to apply. Application period opens in November.
This spring, the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries is focused on how the Covid-19 pandemic has changed our understanding of the value of our work as library professionals, and which workers are the most “essential” to our organizations. In this spirit, the organization is seeking to support the library studies of an individual that is entering, or seeking training in, the profession at an often precarious and uncertain time. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in an ALA-accredited program to help offset the cost of educational expenses.

To apply, please submit your resume and a 250-500 word essay describing any experience that you may have faced in entering the field, or pursuing practical training opportunities, at this time that demonstrates a way the field is changing or responding to our current moment. Eligible applicants must reside in, work, or attend school in the chapter’s service area.

Application period opens in February 1.
Deadline: Monday, March 21, 2022.
Please send your submission to dvcmentoring@gmail.com.
